LED Light Therapy – how does it work and how will I benefit?

There are many uses for Light Therapy today, from the original Paterson Institute for Cancer Research for treatment of Melanomas known as Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT) to treatment for Acne, Rosecea and Skin Rejuvenation. The results speak for themselves and make using LED Light Therapy a vital tool for any therapist wanting to offer clients the most effective treatment with the best outcomes.

How Does Light Therapy work?

Using specific wavelengths of light, red, blue and near infrared we can deliver clinically proven doses of light energy to target receptors within our cells. When these receptors are stimulated, cellular activity is increased causing many different natural body processes to be activated. This includes increasing cell renewal by 200%, increasing collagen production in turn increasing the plumpness of the skin and reduction of lines and wrinkles.

One of the major functions of Near Infared is that is increases the natural ATP within the skin. This depletes with age and is a vital part of countless intercellular skin processes. If we can increase ATP we can in turn increase regeneration, reduce inflammation and increase hydration. Red light is know for is ability to improve overall skin texture and smoothness whilst also regulating pigmentation and Blue light targets the p-acnes bacteria within the skin to eradicate breakouts and ph balance the skin. A combination of wavelengths can be used to taylor each treatment making each visit specifically targeting individual needs.
