Advanced Electrolysis
Advanced Electrolysis is used to remove or reduce a range of skin blemishes on the face and body such as skin tags, milia, blood spots, thread veins and spider veins.
What is Advanced Electrolysis?
Advanced Electrolysis is a treatment that involves placing a very fine, sterile probe (needle) beside or into the blemish and applying a tiny amount of electric current. This current cauterises the blood supply to the blemish and causes the lesion to “die off” off disappear. This process can happen immediately with skin tags, blood spots and thread veins and may only take 1 treatment whereas larger capillaries or milia improve over a series of 1-3 treatments.
This method of blemish removal has been medically approved and used for over 100 years, and it still remains the safest, most cost effective and successful way to treat skin lesions.
What can Advanced Electrolysis treat?
Red Veins and Spider Naevi
Red Veins and Spider Naevi can be sucessfully treated with Advanced Electrolysis. Typically up to three treatments may be required, although there may be a noticeable difference after just one treatment.
Fading begins about three weeks after treatment, with the broken capillaries beginning to disappear.
Skin tags removal
These small blemishes are cauterised and removed instantly, with small red marks or scabbing appearing after treatment. These will disappear after 7-10 days.
Milia removal
The current cauterises the blemish and the milia is reabsorbed back into the skin. Results can start to show up to a month after treatment.
Blood spots (Campbell De Morgans) treatment
Similar to skin tags the blemishes are almost immediately removed but larger blood spots may take up to 3 treatments to disappear completely.
Does Advanced Electrolysis hurt?
Advanced Electrolysis patients generally describe this treatment as mildly uncomfortable, with a warm, stinging sensation which is easily tolerable.
Are there any side effects to Electrolysis?
There are generally no permanent side effects with Advanced Electrolysis.
Some people may experience very slight light “cat scratch” type scabbing as part of the healing process, These may last anywhere from a 3 to 14 days while the skin heals. It is important these are not removed prematurely.
It is also common to experience a temporary, slight reddening of the skin for the first 24 hours whilst the skin is healing.
Advanced Electrolysis after care
Witch Hazel can be used to help to prevent minor infections by forming a protective, natural antibacterial layer over the skin, while Aloe Vera can be gently applied for its healing and soothing properties.
Avoid touching or picking scabs.
